On the 50th year anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) we reflect on the foundations of the IDEA and take a look back while keeping the future in mind. The IDEA was initially enacted on November 29, 1975. IDEA remains the cornerstone of special education, ensuring students with disabilities have the opportunity to learn, grown, and achieve their full potential.
