Windsor High’s inclusive practices are incorporated throughout the school. Every type of learner is present in all classes, campus events, and extracurricular activities.
The structure of the Academic Cores and Focus Areas allow students to benefit from the collaboration and support of a team of teachers. This team includes their case manager, which ensures getting support within the least restrictive environment in the general education classroom. This approach allows students, who historically may not have been placed in general education classrooms an opportunity to thrive within these settings. For some students, who do need an SDC classroom setting for some classes, the opportunity to enroll in a class, like Spanish, PE, Math, or an elective class is available to them. Many students benefit from the inclusion within these classrooms.
Windsor High embraces all learners and gives access to all based on student interest. Students of all backgrounds are active members throughout the school in groups and activities such as Leadership, Cheerleading, Drama, Music, and Sports. There is an active Best Buddies program and other clubs that promote inclusivity throughout the school.
Windsor High is proud to have successfully hosted the largest Special Olympics Track and Field event in California history. In true Windsor High style, the whole school came out to support and cheer on the athletes. With the Band, Dance Team, and Cheerleaders performing it made for a celebratory event that was enjoyed by all.
The beauty of the Windsor Way is a community built on the premise that all learners belong and should have every opportunity available to grow and thrive. All means all.
